- This Patient Management Problem case simulation is designed to assess
- certain aspects of clinical problem solving. After you receive the
- initial case data, you will have the opportunity to obtain more
- information, to order diagnostic studies and procedures, to prescribe
- therapy, and to make other decisions regarding this patient. In each
- section, you may be asked to select one response or more than one response.
- When you are in a section in which you may enter more than one response,
- you may or may not choose to use the information gathered to make
- additional selections in that section.
-
- For each response or selection, you may get a positive score or a
- negative score. Your total score depends on the sum of the scores assigned
- to the choices you select. Making too many selections may lower your
- score, and making too few may not produce the highest score. Be selective
- but thorough.
-
- Just follow the prompts as you go along. You may only be required to
- type one key to continue, or you be asked to make a choice from a numbered
- list or menu, after which you press the 'RETURN' or 'ENTER' key.

-
- Your decisions during the Patient Management Problem will be scored
- in two ways:
-
- MANAGEMENT DECISION SCORE - Points are awarded according to how
- appropriate your management decisions were. You receive points
- for appropriate decisions; inappropriate decisions detract points from
- your score. Your management decision score is the sum of the numerical
- values of the actions you took.
-
- DATA COLLECTION SCORE - Points are awarded or deducted for your
- decisions in those sections of the test in which you are required to
- collect data about the patient. Your data collection score expresses your
- point total as a percentage of the total number of positive points
- available. A negative absolute score is expressed as a negative
- percentage.
-
- Good luck, and enjoy your session with DISCOTEST.
